Working in product development, it is very important to wring as much as possible out of every stakeholder conversation. I have always wondered why these conversations ended up with mixed results. I've also thought about developing a questioning process or template, but hadn't done anything about it.
The Pain Funnel provides the structure and flow that was missing. It has been used with excellent results in three customer conversations recently. They felt in charge of the conversation, conveyed their thoughts in much greater detail, and expressed their appreciation for how well we listened.
